New Robots From Boston Dynamics LS3

LS3 will be the new robot from Boston Dynamics. It’s designed to go any where and can carry up to 400 lbs. LS3 looks like the robot BIG DOG from the conceptual design photo, but i think it will be some different from other robots, we will see it on 2012.

Here are some description about LS3 from Boston Dynamics:

LS3 is a dynamic robot designed to go anywhere Soldiers and Marines go on foot. Each LS3 will carry up to 400 lbs of gear and enough fuel for missions covering 20 miles and lasting 24 hours. LS3 will not need a driver, because it will automatically follow a leader using computer vision or travel to designated locations using sensing and GPS. The development of LS3 will take 30 months, with first walk out scheduled for 2012. The development of LS3 is being funded by DARPA and the US Marine Corps.

3 Powerful Robots from Boston Dynamics

Boston Dynamics is an engineering company that specializes in building dynamic robots and software for human simulation. The differences between Japanese robots and Boston Dynamics robots is the usability of robots. The robots designed by Boston Dynamics not only looks awesome but also work great and powerful.

What robots can do? They builds advanced robots with remarkable behavior: mobility, agility, dexterity and speed. Some time they can be transport troops, spy and soldiers. This following robots can explain what the robots can really do!

1. Dig Dog

Big Dog

Big Dog is the alpha male of the Boston Dynamics robots. It is a rough-terrain robot that walks, runs, climbs and carries heavy loads. Big Dog is powered by an engine that drives a hydraulic actuation system. Big Dog has four legs that are articulated like an animal’s, with compliant elements to absorb shock and recycle energy from one step to the next. Big Dog is the size of a large dog or small mule; about 3 feet long, 2.5 feet tall and weighs 240 lbs.

2. RHex

RHex

RHex is a rugged man-portable robot with extraordinary rough terrain mobility. RHex climbs in rock fields, mud, sand, vegetation, railroad tracks, telephone poles and up slopes and stairways. RHex has a sealed body, making it fully operational in wet weather, muddy and swampy conditions, and it can swim on the surface or dive underwater. RHex’s remarkable terrain capabilities have been validated in government-run independent testing.

3. PETMAN

PETMAN

PETMAN is an anthropomorphic robot for testing chemical protection clothing used by the US Army. Unlike previous suit testers, which had to be supported mechanically and had a limited repertoire of motion, PETMAN will balance itself and move freely; walking, crawling and doing a variety of suit-stressing calisthenics during exposure to chemical warfare agents. PETMAN will also simulate human physiology within the protective suit by controlling temperature, humidity and sweating when necessary, all to provide realistic test conditions.

A Volant Ferrari

An Russia merchant prince was vexation among the traffic jam, so he ask Moller International Company to design a volant car for him. And the Moller International Company did it at the instance of rich man, and named that car Autovolantor.

The Autovolantor was designed by Calkins the general manager of Moller International Company, and refitted base on a Ferrari worth 200,000 Pound. The Autovolantor can run on the ground just like the other cars, and it can vertical translation like the helicopter. The secret of the volant car was there were eight punchy thrusters inside the car to power it moving. The thrusters can spurt out air current in any orientation, and let the car run or fly as you like. There also aerofoils under the Autovolantor, and they will outspread before the car flying. Every Autovolantor cost 500,000 Pound, if you have enough money you can get one.

The max speed of flying for Autovolantor was 150 mile/h, and the flight altitude was 1,524 Meter. The Moller International Company consider that the Autovolantor perfectly solve the traffic problem for city in the future. But they must face to to the traffic control problem and the validity of the Autovolantor to be a car!!

do you have seen the great movie of IronMan in this summer? If you had done this, you may possibly like the suit of the leading actor.

but now there’s another suit look like the IronMan wore , it’s HTL (Hybrid Assistive Limb) developed by Elm Design and Cyberdyne in Japan. It can’t make you fly but it still make you more stronger. The HTL was maked up of control system, power system and dynamic system.
